    Better than Samsung
I have been a user of Samsung Android phones for 20 years. They have always been good, but when their update service expires their functionality, speed, and overall performance tends to decline. For the last several years I was using the Samsung XCover pro, and the latest versions of this phone seemed to provide little in terms of system upgrades. After researching other phone options that would work with Verizon, I settled on the One+ 13, 16 gig model. For the extra expense, it provided a much faster processor, better memory, incredible wireless charging, a battery that lasts forever, and it still has a dual sim option. Since it is an Android phone that works with a lot Google features/apps (as opposed to preloaded Samsung apps), there was a little bit or learning curve. Overall I have been extremely satisfied. It is about the same physical size as my old Samsung XCover Pro, and it came with so much “onboard memory” the need for a separate SD memory card was made obsolete. Everything transferred from my old Samsung phone (except for most of the Samsung apps, which I did not use anyway). I was able to easily move the sim card from my Samsung phone to the One+ 13 phone, and then activate the sim card to work on the One+ phone on the Verizon website without any problems. Some notes:1. I have always used Outlook on my Samsung phones. Over the years, this has created contacts on the phone based on Microsoft Exchange and Office 365, as well as contacts that had been created and stored on the phone sim card. Because of the Google preference, the One+ phone wants to merge these existing contacts into a Google contacts data base. I declined this option, and I installed Outlook app on the One+ phone. However, it wants to link the contacts I have from Outlook 365, Microsoft Exchange, and on the phone sim card, with Google contacts. If you are not careful, this can create a lot of duplicate contracts they may be slightly different.2. The One+ speed/direct dial widget is different from the Samsung speed/direct dial widget for quick one touch dialing of specific phone contacts. I was not crazy about the One+ widget, so I downloaded a speed dial widget from the Google play store. But I have now gone back to the One+ 13 phone widget for speed/one touch dialing.3. There is an app on the Google play store for additional One+ phone ring tones. It provides a lot more options than the ring tones that come pre-loaded on the phone itself.4. The One+ phone seems to work much better with Android Auto.5. One+ has an app you can download to use your phone to connect with a PC or Mac computer (the app gets downloaded onto your computer). I find this app works a lot better than attempting to use the Windows Remote connection app.

What a flagship phone should be
This phone flies. Good for 5 versions of Android and 6 years of updates. Great camera – the only thing critics complained about, and it’s better than my wife’s new Galaxy 25 Ultra. OnePlus connect is awesome too; it replaced AirDroid for me (which was good as well, I use Windows OS btw). Offers a lot of customizability too. Comes with a screen protector! OP says it’s meant to protect the phone during shipping and should be replaced by an aftermarket one, but I’m on a month with the factory screen protector and no visible scratches (idk about the invisible ones 😉 ).I would complain about lack of external storage if that were a feature offered by anyone these days, but 512GB is pretty good, especially when you have OP connect to offload large files easily.I almost forgot – battery life is stupid good. 6pm after a full day of standard use and I’m at 88% while writing. I’ve never dropped below 50% in a day, maybe even 60 or 70 (but I would certainly notice 50). AND IT COMES WITH A FAST CHARGER AS ALL NEW PHONES, ESPECIALLY $1k+ SMARTPHONES SHOULD. Huge win to not only ship a charger, but a turbocharger that gets you from 70% to 100% in like 5 minutes.I’ve never noticed heat coming from this phone. Haven’t tested the durability apart from standard use, but I have gotten it wet and it still detected my touches without getting confused by the drops on the screen.I can’t say enough good things about this phone. If you want to get the most bang from your buck, this is your phone. If you want to make people who spent $1200 on a Galaxy Ultra Plus jealous, this is your phone. If you want overpayment and underperformance, look elsewhere.OP ostensibly stands for “OnePlus,” but gamers know it stands for “Overpowered,” which is exactly what this phone is. Get it before the mods notice and Nerf it!
