Oops – first review was for fan blades!
True FFF (form, fit, function) replacement for the fan motor on our fridge. Was all set for difficult replacement – light, tools, son to be gopher…it literally took me more time to get the tools out than it did to put this fan in! The old fan unit slides out – then you maneuver the unit around the coils and hoses. The new one slides in. The connection easily pops off, and the new one pops on. The only “challenge”…the actual FAN BLADE is separate – you MUST order a new blade as well, as there is no way to slide the blade off the old fan motor shaft without messing up the retaining system for the blade. So…be warned. Overall – WELL worth the cost (asked a friend who also had his fan replaced…$150 labor and $50 for part, and repairman tried to use old blade, which later my friend had to replace!!! He spent $200, plus cost of blade…)Simple repair, reasonable cost, no problems.

    Fantastic replacement part!
Part comes without a fan blade, but chances are your old motor has one and what ever problems you had, it was not fan blade.Very easy to remove old motor housing (watch many youtube instructions), my fridge is Samsung RS2530BSH and new part fits perfectly (how to maneuver part in place, … watch youtube)Before installing new part remove fan blade from old motor assembly (easy to remove coil spring that secures it), put it on the new motor assembly and put back coil spring to prevent fan blade from slipping of from motor shaft. One thing to note, I have seen it in other reviews as well, motor assembly comes with only one screw, … you need to make sure rubber grommets are in place (inside motor housing), that motor housing cover clips in pressing on rubber grommets to keeping motor firmly in place (motor should not feel loose in side housing), then from the back side of motor housing you need to secure it with two screws, if one is missing in your new assembly just take another one from old assembly. After I closed back cover on the fridge, motor and fan are now silent, it is hard to hear them at all!

    Some tips about the motor…
Chances are that if you are looking up this part you are either a repair person, someone who is comfortable making appliance repairs, or someone who just got off of YouTube watching how to actually switch out the fan motor. In any case, here are just a few tips of advice about this fan motor:1. It does not come with a blade. I recommend ordering the blade just in case you can’t get the original blade off the fan motor. The first time I switched the fan motor the blade snapped and I had to order a replacement.2. If your fridge isn’t working, you can place a regular house fan, like a box fan, in back of the fridge an turn it on high pointed at the back of the fridge, this will act like a replacement fan and help keep the fridge cool which might save all of the food inside. I took the back panel off of my fridge and the fan worked perfectly and the ice maker even began making ice, which indicated that the fan needed to be replaced.3. This is the second time I’ve had to replace the fan motor. The first fan I replaced lasted about two years, so just keep that in mind. And finally, if you have any doubts about doing the repair yourself, contact a repair person. At least you have the part and a typical repair shouldn’t cost you that much. In the long run it is far cheaper buying the part and having someone install it for you than buying a new fridge. I saved between $1200-1500 because of refrigerator costs in my area.

Make sure if your whole fan goes out on your fridge to buy the blade too
Our Samsung refrigerator fan went out a couple months ago so we had to buy the new part. When we got this part, we didn’t realize it didn’t come worth the fan blade, so we had to order that and wait for that to come in to install. Just before when you purchase you will have to buy the blade too! The Samsung Fan Blade DA31-00010D will work with this part. Was easy for my husband to install, just make sure you have all the parts 🙂

    Works perfect
I replaced my burned up fan with this unit.Very easy install and it worked perfect.YOU MUST BUY THE FAN BLADE ALSO !!!!!!!It is impossible to remove the old fan to reuse.Get a new blade for your new motor.I was a bit surprised that the factory fan quit after only 3 years of use.The new unit was the exact part and I give it about 3 years also.My factory fan had 2 extra wires going to the socket. It was for the freezer light. You will need to extract your old light wires and reuse theif you have the wiring setup I have. This is not hard to do, but you CAN’T YANK THE PINS OUT.You will need to cut out the pins from the old wire socket.Use a small hobby saw or a sharp razor and cut away the plastic to them extractthe 2 electrical pins. Then then snap into place on your new fan.Just make sure you duplicate the wire position to the new fan.Works great, I just had to spend a little more time on the project.

    Evaporator motor/fan fix
Worked great. Not sure if came as a complete unit assembled. Did include complete unit except fan that I ordered separately. Motor was loose in shroud but only needed tightening couple screws. Had to use one screw from old unit. Repair tip. Some units have screws to remove the unit from refrigerator. My refrig used plastic pressure slides kind of like a ramp with a sudden drop off. So you have to reach under the shroud, find the ramp, and gently push up or down on the plastic lever to get it below the plastic stop and then slide the unit out the back of the refrig (toward) you. Be gentle as everything is thin plastic and breaks easily. Also there are 3 fans for this motor. The one on this page does not fit my Samsung so look at the other 2 and use the Amazon Model Search at the top on the page to make sure it shows fitting your mode. My fan was the C model.

    refridgerators
Working fine so far. Longevity is the concern. Have replaced fan motor assembly twice now. Third fan motor including original in 6 years.Never replaced on any other refrigerator fan motor in 35 years of owning them. Is this a problem with Samsung?

  8. D Shannon

I ordered according to the model of fridge but the new fan is a 2 wire and the fridge is a 3 wire. Fan does not operate at all. It fits the mount brackets just fine but just seems to be the wrong part, not as advertised.
