Saved me from getting a new washer!
I can’t believe I am making a huge review about a wash machine filter, but the previous one was such a thorn in my side for years and I wish I had only known…So the old filter was a total PITA to remove. Apparently it was a child lock type filter, so well designed that it was adult proof as well. I could never get the thing open and so I would set my husband onto the task when I would remember to, which meant it was never done as often as it should have been.So last week, the washer again began to have a lingering stinky smell, and hubby was gone, so I set to tackle to chore on my own. That filer was NOT going to come off without a fight, so I got out an adjustable wrench and finally wrangled it off. It was full of pet fur and other nastiness so no wonder my washer stank. After getting it all cleaned out, I reinstalled it in the washer and started another load…only to have my floor start flooding because the filter was now leaking all over.At this point I was completely fed up after years of putting up with this filter, and honestly started looking at new washers (to the point of going to the appliance store, comparing prices online, etc.) because I assumed a replacement filter would still do the same thing and this thing was done frustrating me. But I ordered a replacement filter hoping to limp through until hubby came home and could replace the entire unit.Well let me tell you, this filter is a total 180 degree difference. This one screwed in easily and sealed perfectly. No more leaks in an instant! And no need to replace the entire machine. Not to mention is saved me from shlepping laundry to the laundromat for a few weeks. It easily screws in and out so I can actually clean it easily without getting tools involved. It WORKS! LEAK FINALLY STOPPED!!
Samsung Washer WF45K6500AW/A2Lengthy read but worth it if you are about to pull all your hair out due to a leaking pump filter!!I literally want to cry! I was about to spend $900+ on a new washer and this $18 NON-CHILD LOCK replacement piece saved the day!!!To start, I thought the original filter pump was broken because I have literally tried for several years to open with no avail. It would just click/turn and never come loose. We were then having issues last week with draining issues SUD and DC codes. Looked online and found to try the filter pump. After several hours I finally discovered HOW to open (and it wasn’t pushing in with all my might). I took a pair of adjustable pliers, closed, and inserted into the area AROUND the turn handle, pushed and turned and WAH-LA, it finally opened (photo enclosed). Now that it was open, I located the problem as to draining…sand, stones and yes, a key (my husband is in construction). Dug out a ton of crap, cleaned and dried. Thinking I was good, I lined up the arrows, twisted and pushed with all my might. Started machine to have it leak an entire load of water on floor (until I made the contraption in photo). Took off, inserted, tried again. After several failed attempts I called it quits and out I went in search of a new machine. After seeing the prices I decided to do a little more research and this appears to be a VERY COMMON problem with these ridiculous child proof pump filters (factory installed). I said, for $18 what do I have to lose!? Came today, went in smooth as butter (aligning triangle/marker on both). Set up my water trap contraption, hit rinse cycle and closed my eyes……HALLELUJAH IT WORKS!! This piece LITERALLY saved me $900 this week. I could kiss the person who designed this!! My water “trap” as photo enclosed was 20 minutes into the cycle…no water…dry as a bone right to the end of cycle. Added model, etc. because I was not seeing my particular model but I assure you, it works if the issue has to do with this child safety filter. Best money every spent!! THANK YOU TO THE DESIGNER!!!

Great Part – Samsung Shouldn’t be Allowed to Design Washers
First- this is a great replacement part – 5 stars.If you have need to buy this filter – sorry about your bad luck. The Samsung design is SO BAD I can’t believe this made it’s way into a shipping product. There’s no way to remove the old filter without having about a half liter or water dump all over the ground. Also, this filter is deigned with a hollow flat rubber gasket. Why they didn’t use an O ring or solid flat washer is beyond me. You will need to buy replacements every 2-3 change outs because the gasket deforms easily and eventually fails.What I’ve learned…1) I don’t replace the filter until the washer gives me a message saying there’s a blockage. Some may get a few months (us, since we have dogs and hair in the home) – others may get years.2) We’re not buying another Samsung washer if this is the best their design engineers can do.

If you are reading this review, you are probably like me in that you recently had to clean a filter on your Samsung washer, then had a horrible leak not long after you did and spent a frustrating amount of time scream, cursing, and looking up videos about how to properly reinstall something you are supposed to clean out every other month, only to then be foiled by the faulty child safety locks. And then further learn that there is a specific alignment position too (that isnt marked on the factory filter)This filter does not have those. It is much easier to remove and reinsert without having to awkwardly jam a flat head screwdriver into the safety clips while trying to twist. There is a convenient up arrow that shows the alignment point marked on this filter. Sucessfull install with no filter leaks on first try. Lastly, though not listed it did might my W45R6100A washer.
