    Maybelline Lash Sensational Holiday Makeup Kit
    This mascara might be some of the coolest that I’ve ever used. I’m not even talking about just the product, but the tubes themselves are really fun. The plastic is thick and feels very high quality and the caps twist in place…so you know it’s fully locked, but also…fidget toy, anyone?! The colors of the tubes and the copper foiling is stunning. The different tube colors make each product easy to tell apart without having to open them or read the sticker on the bottom, too. I love that the frosted color is in a silver shimmery tube.The wands are also well made. The only other ‘specialty’ mascaras I’ve tried came with such flimsy wands that they didn’t pick up any product at all. These wands are nice and substantial, but don’t hold too much product (the filter in the top does a great job at removing excess mascara). The wand is a sturdy plastic while the applicator is flexible and moves to the weight and shape of my lashes. It is the first flexible applicator that I’ve used and I am definitely a fan.As far as performance, they work better than I expected. I’ve tried some that asserted so much promise and didn’t even deliver the most minimum of expectations, but these work really well. The black is a typical high saturation black that applies well and dries quickly with great impact…the color name is blackest black, which is fitting. The shimmery color is called ‘space diamond’ and is also very fitting. Now, I’ll be honest and say that it isn’t as vibrant as in the listing photos (it could be that they layered A LOT of product, which I didn’t want to waste to try myself as I love it so much I want to get the most out of it) but you can clearly see the shimmery effect with just a couple of layers. I actually prefer it that way as you can see the sparkle from a distance but it isn’t overly distracting the way I feel the listing photos may be.Overall, this mascara duo is a fantastic value. At $20 at the time of ordering, I would absolutely order this again. The tubes are full sized (.25oz for the black and .24oz for the space diamond) and perform exceedingly well. I’ve spent more on a single tube of run of the mill mascara that I’ve been less thrilled with than this duo. This is a great product for anyone that likes a little extra sparkle, maybe for the holidays or maybe just because a little sparkle is just plain fun. I never thought I’d have so much to say about mascara, but here I am…can’t recommend this set enough.

    Not-So-Great Presentation for a Great Mascara
    Love this! Definitely a great stocking stuffer, except for some issues with presentation — simply put, I would consider gifting this set to myself or a close family member, but it has some cosmetic issues that mean it’s definitely not coming with to the office Christmas party.These have the quality that you would expect from Maybelline (high), and are very affordably priced. They come very nicely presented and ready to gift, and are both full-sized tubes. The plain black mascara went on well. While it took a few coats to get it as glittery and even as in the picture (went on the tips of my lashes fine, but took a few coats for the rest of the lash). I didn’t have any issues with clumping or balls of product, which was great. This went on smooth as butter and lasted forever, with no fallout — though tbh my life as an office drone doesn’t get me much opportunity to push this to its limits.However, there is a reason I have this product four stars instead of five.To be straight, the pictures make the tubes look very sleek, shiny, and metallic, but irl they’re made of a cheaper, pretty low-quality plastic. For such a great price price somethings gotta go, and it looks like it was the tube material quality this time.This isn’t too terrible, as the wand and product are still great — just giving y’all a heads up that the material quality doesn’t match that of other Maybelline mascaras I’ve gotten, and that this cheapens the appearance a bit. For instance, there’s much stronger pigmentation of the plastic around where the lid screws into the body of the tube than on the rest of the tube, there are divots on the top and bottom of the tube from the molding process, etc.Normally I wouldn’t be this picky and would deduct only half a star for this, but considering that this is a gift set, appearance matters — a LOT! I’m not sure if I would want to gift someone this set, considering that it looks like this. It’s fine for me, but I would gladly put down an extra buck or two to make the quality of the outside match the that of what’s within.
