Sounds Great – Read My ‘Install Hints’ to help you 🙂
These speakers sound terrific in a marine application. I just replaced them on my Ranger Bass Boat – and Amazon’s pricing is outstanding compared to some of the other online retailers. Solid bass and sweet highs – perfect for the water! Install was easy. Two things that will help you during install: 1) In drilling your holes for your speakers – start at a lower diameter ( smaller drill bit ) than Pioneer recommends so that the screws will tighten and adhere to the fiberglass. 2) The speaker connectors on the Pioneer speakers are not the same size for positive and negative ( another reviewer mentioned this as well below ). I crimped my existing speaker wire connectors with my pliers ( go slowly and take your time ) and made them smaller so that they would fit onto the Pioneers. Of course – you can always buy the smaller connectors and rewire as well. Hope this helps you – all in all – very worthwhile upgrade!P.S. One other thing that you need to remember … when you evaluate how these really sound … make sure you are using a high-quality music source – like a streaming service ( Spotify ) – or ‘FLAC’ like track if possible. FM radio will simply not do this justice. ‘Garbage in – Garbage out’ … hope that helps!

Great sounding speakers for my boat!
These speakers sound great in my boat and were a definite upgrade over the old speakers that had been in it for 15 plus years.

    Great Sound – Easy Install
Great speakers and a great fit for my RV application. I replaced for VERY low end marine speakers that had totally disintegrated after only 3 years. I removed the old ones and installed these – they were about 1/8″ deeper then my old ones so I had to cut out a wall backing to allow them to flush fit. They look and sound great.Note: Make sure you have ALL speakers amped if you have multiple pairs installed. My interior speakers are amped, while the external ones ARE NOT amped. There is NO way to balance the sound – it blares inside just to be at a decent level outside. Poor design by the RV manufacture. I will be finding a decent 2-channel amp to fix this problem.

Really nice sounding speakers – good sound field depth
These are very well made and really nice sounding speakers. Well balanced from the low/mid all the way up to the highs. They are MUCH better than the Aquatronics AMS602W speaker that they replaced on my boat. These speakers provide a nice depth to the music in spite of the fact that my installation does not have a full enclosure behind them. The take the power well especially at high base levels without distorting. I also know that how people perceive sound is very individual. I am an engineer and have listened to an amazing range of speakers and sound systems over the years and I am confident that most people will like they way these speakers sound.

    Pioneer Marine Speakers
I installed four eight inch pioneer speakers in my 25 foot open fisherman. They are connected to a Sony 600 watt (60 watts RMS) Marine Amplifier. These speakers sound great. THEY WILL NOT PLAY WELL WITHOUT AN AMPLIFIER (nominal rating is 40 watts RMS). They are the best value and are unmatched by any competitor in their price range. In order to get a better sounding speaker you will have to pay nearly twice as much, but those expensive speakers will not sound twice as good. In addition, pioneer marine speakers will hold up very well when exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods. I did not use a boat cover and the speakers still sound great 18 months later. Bass response is just OK but mids and highs are awesome. For deep bass you will need to add subwoofers and a mono amp as I did (two 10s). I highly recommend pioneer to any consumer. If you only want to listen to the speakers while inside the boat, you can mount them low, however if you intend on listening to the speakers while anchored at a beach/sandbar, choose the highest place available to mount them. I have a pair on the sides of my center console at the highest point, since I often listen to music while the boat is anchored and I am in the water. These Pioneer speakers sound crisp even from 50 feet away.

    Great sound, great price!
Speakers were a great addition to our pontoon boat. We combined these with an 8 inch tube subwoofer for a great sound all around. The speakers alone made a huge improvement over the stock speakers. They fit right into the previous mounting hole, and installed with ease. They do have some low end, but are not super high end speakers. It is my opinion that they work best when combined with a small subwoofer, as their highs are beautiful (and echo across the lake!)
