    My wife loves this. It’s moved her planner sticker habit to the next level. She loves being able to get photos without shadows with nice, even lighting.4 stars overall because, well, it’s not perfect.4 stars for durability because we’ve only had it 2 weeks. Seems durable enough but there’s a lot of plastic.5 stars for ease of assembly because I didn’t need the instructions to put anything together and most of it was already assembled.4 stars for ease of use because we’ve only had it 2 weeks and the jury is still out on how easy it is to use.She also adores the different color temperatures available with this light.We had some difficulty getting the tube to fully extend initially. Just had to twist a little harder to unlock all the segments.This is NOT a professional, or even pro-sumer, level rig. The tube extends to a nice height if you use this on a low table. The cell phone attachment and remote work great and were easy to both figure out and demonstrate to my tech-hesitant SWMBO. The remote is actually very useful when taking pics as it allows you to snap the picture without making the entire rig shake.Did I mention this is not a professional level rig? It’s great for what it does and it’s intended user. I haven’t measured how far the tube extends, but it’s about 4 feet or less. The lamp is great at that distance. Any more and it really wouldn’t have enough punch to light a subject the way a professional level ring light would.We’ve tried shooting through the ring with a DSLR and that works well, too. No shadows, even lighting. The cell phone attachment just screws out and allows you to shoot through the ring with a DSLR or point-and-shoot.Speaking of the cell phone attachment – it works great. We have a Galaxy S9+ and S8+ and it holds either securely and without mashing any buttons. To attach your cell phone, merely expand the sides, place your phone between them and release the sides. Easy peasy. The springs holding the sides together create a nice firm grip and you don’t have to worry about your phone falling out and landing face down, or on it’s side, and cracking the screen or back. There is a cell phone attachment that’s fixed and doesn’t move as well as a more flexible attachment. Both work well.The flexible attachment is handy but not really flexible enough. Though, to be honest, not sure how it could be made more flexible and still hold position.Speaking of flexible, the light is adjustable in both orientation and level. It has the ability to rotate 360 degrees around one axis and the ability to be moved up and down on the other. To move up and down simply loosen the butterfly knob and move the light to where you want it and tighten the knob back down. Holds very well. If you need the light to rotate a little left or right, simply move it. Nothing to tighten or loosen and it’s stiff enough that friction alone will hold it in place.

    Flimsy
    Update: I decided to keep it and tbh, for the price it’s ok, you’re getting what you pay for. That said, going so cheap on the key component that controls the armature is just a bad decision unless the point is to put a time limit on it before it breaks.The rotating plastic piece that connects the arm to the stand is flimsy plastic. It is not a stable connection and begins bending the moment you tighten it. The ball & socket camera mount at the end is also flimsy and unstable. MAYBE if you intend to set this up only a handful of times you can make this work, but it WILL break and/or your camera will fall.Basically everything a tripod needs to be safe and secure is made of flimsy plastic. It’s a tripod that someone added a random arm to.

The cell phone holder works well (I have an S9+ with a case). It holds my phone tightly and the ball joint is really secure, no matter what angle you’re setting your phone at. The three options for brightness make it easy to match the light to your environment without messing up the white balance, & it’s very bright for the size that it is. The rods are flexible but firm, so they hold wherever you place them. The phone holder is exactly what you would expect- supports your phone & allows you to place it in *most* positions, though the ball joint is a bit loose. There were limited assembly instructions, but it was simple enough to figure out!
