    Oculus vs HTC Vive Pro
    Oculus Rift S was the first VR system that I owned. I bought it because it was the most inexpensive system on the market and I didn’t know if I would like VR. I fell in love with it right away. After several years, I wore it out and Oculus became obsolete. I bought an HTC Vive System which was about 3 times the cost and it wasted my computer resources. My frame rates dropped dramatically, and it was not compatible with all the VR simulators that I enjoy. I wore it out in a couple of years and fortunately, I was able to purchase a brand-new Oculus through Amazon! My frame rates have gone back up and I can once again enjoy all of my simulators. Keep up the good work, Amazon!

    Just gave my great grandson on July 28 for his 13th birthday.
    He had a set that went bad after 3 years. Parts weren’t available. I waited until Prime’s 2 day sales and save over $100. I wore this VR set watching a roller coast ride. I was in the front seat. The graphics were very good. The VR ride made me dizzy and was so realistic. I get sick on real roller coast ride. I had to get on my knees because I felt I was in the seat. If you haven’t view through a good VR your missing a great adventure. There are cheaper and expensive one. This is the second best for the price out there. The boxing game will beat your butt!

    Returning the item is costly
    The item arrived ok and looked nice. It has both a USB and DV plug. Windows 10 did not recognize the USB, which is used for power and to operate the motion cameras on the headset. There were no Windows drivers to download for the Oculus USB. The only way it would work was to start the Oculus software, then unplug and re plug in the USB, then it was recognized by my PC. In doing this, I had to do the complete setup process every time i used the headset. This was an unacceptable workaround for something that was so expensive. I decided to return it to the seller ( not amazon). The seller charged me a restocking fee of 20% of the price of the headset even though it clearly states if the item is returned within 30 days in the original condition, a complete refund, replacement will be given. Apparently, original condition means unopened box. So if you open the box and have any problem, Your fault or not, you will be out 20% of the cost of the headset. Seller told me the restock fee helps them recover the cost of doing business. Apparently, the bad economy only applies to Oculus. Glad I was able to help them out.

    You’ll Most likely need a USB 3.0 PCIE card
    Ugh…the hours I spent debugging why my headset would disconnect, not connected at all, say my display port not working, USB not working, and it was all because it didn’t get enough power from myother board USB ports. I kinda wish they would of made it more obvious that a PCIE card may be needed to run this consistently. The oculus app is also somewhat annoying to deal with as you have to get a third party solution just to tell it to not open automatically. But besides that and the draining batteries on the controllers (enigizers don’t last no more than a week) it is a fun experience to have in vr. No extra trackers or cameras needed.

    I love vr its fun and interactive. My only complaint is that some vr titles have tracking issues. Even tho I’ve played it on a worse pc and vr before and it was fine.

    2020/11/19日　更新————-リフトS入手は今年までで、来年終息するとの事で。Quest2購入しました映像は綺麗です操作はリフトSリフトSからPCVR専用ヘッドセッドは倍から倍以上になってきますね💦画質はリフトSから他社さん比、誤差の範囲では10数万になると差が出てきますが個人的にリフトSの画質は満足してまして後継機でたらすいませんが、現状コスパは良好です。PC環境でですねQuest2とリフトSの立ち上がりリフトS優勢接続は本当に楽ですQuest2はUSBtypeCしか公式が無くtypeC付いてないPC多いですよねRTX2080ですがグラボのtypeCが10Gbps/sの27W給電で何とか外付けSSDの接続に使いたいですが他無くって(2019年、リフトSに合わせて購入)アンカーさんの3mケーブルが公認でUSBtypeA接続もしてたりしてて延長で8m(こんなにいらないですが)通常のUSBだと1m毎に0.2A?(曖昧ですいません)減ってくので延長はアクティブ・リピーターUSBケーブルですQuestは常時使わないでPC起動してれば充電されるのかなって思いますがVRオンリーだと要充電ですねここのリフトSの気楽さとケーブルの安定具合と転送レートの高速さ(Questはレコーダーの圧縮画像的な標準とか高品位とかあるらしくて公式Linkケーブルは光ファイバーなので同じUSB3.0でも3.2Gen1ですので減衰ない分強いです。よく分かってないのですが最高品位圧縮は公式の1万らしいぽくて……せめてtypeCーUSB-A3.0(青いUSB)ケーブル欲しかったですね)QuestのLinkケーブルは変換C-Aでも電力減衰で市販では厳しそうでL時変コネクタでも減衰ヘッドセットに繋ぐ方ですねそこをわかりやすくして欲しかったです詳しい方なら問題無いですが3m以上は電力足らないので(背面のマザー連結USB端子推奨でフロントは中で延長してる分下がってるそうです)Quest2は凄くいいとだけは言っておかないと💦少し手間がPCVRだけですのであとOculus/HTC VIVE用のVR動かないのありますOculus/HTC VIVEの2強が今のVR業界を支えていた分そこが多少不便ではあるかもですSTEAM VRなら問題ないです。両方持ってみて思った事をまとまり無く追記しました。基本Quest2だけでも問題なく・操作性は若干(改善されると思います)・充電・ケーブル規格の3m以上のややこしさ・PCVRの開始が若干遅い(許容範囲です)あ、ヘッドセットの安定感はリフトが抜群でQuest2はストラップ追加購入しました。(耐久に難と海外で出てるそうでですが私はそれはないです。あったら後日追記しますね。)以上で、まとまりありませんが追記ここまでで。———————————–Rift Sのスペックより1280×1440×2LCD（フルRGB)リフレッシュレート 80Hz　視野角は115度前後との事ですOculus GO → Rift Sと両方使っています。ストリーミング再生で動画を見る場合はアプリが豊富で操作の楽なGOは大変便利ですRift S初期にスピーカーに不具合が報告されていましたが、すでに解決済みですので安心ですねその他の改善等もアップデートで更新は今も続いて便利になってます。導入時、Rift Sのコードは分岐からのUSBとdisplayportの端子の距離がやや短いかもですのでデスクトップだと大丈夫な長さですが、環境によってはどちらかを延長がいるかもです。肝心のVR体験ですが、ゲームへの没頭感は高いです80Hzという事ですが残像感はまず感じなかったですし、装着時の後ろからのダイヤル調整の幅がかなりあるので、バランスはGOより良好です。重さを忘れてしまう感覚でVRって感じですセンサー搭載で開封からVR体験までは速いです設定中は周囲のモノクロカメラで見る事が出来ますのでゲーム感覚です映像は綺麗でとても明るく見やすいですね。・専門家曰く『有機ELのペンタイル方式のVIVE PROよりも美しい』という事でコスパは高いと感じますPSVRと比べても、画質も解像度が高いせいか綺麗で鮮明です。PC構成の最小は製品紹介に載ってましたのでOculus社の推奨スペックの方を下記に・グラフィックカードNVIDIA GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 480以上・代替可能なグラフィックカードNVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD Radeon R9 290以上・CPUIntel i5-4590 / AMD Ryzen 5 1500X以上・メモリ　8GB以上のRAM現行の最新だとGTX1650SUPERくらいあればきっと快適ですねノートだと同じグラボでも控えめパワーですので(デスクトップ用は強めのクーラーが付いている前提の性能ですので推奨なら動きますが推奨前後のノート用グラボは保護の為に動作速度が控えめで＝性能不足となるかもです。)条件をクリアしていれば、快適にプレイ出来ますね初回はうまく設定できた事と予想以上の画質と装着感は満足です。この先、梅雨から夏辺りの話ですが、暑さが増す日々、途中レンズが曇りやすい感じが昨年はしましたVRマスクは耳にゴムで引っかけるタイプが良く思えましたずれにくく使い捨てで衛生的です。RiftS両手のコントローラーもとても使いやすく、重さもほとんど感じませんこのコントローラーは数あるVRヘッドセットの中で高いレベルの完成度ですね🎵ちょっと前はVIVE PROと比較しちゃってましたがRift Sの方が画面が綺麗だそうで楽しく遊びたいです。VR全体のシェアが上がって、良質なソフトがたくさん出て欲しいですね。今日もビーセなどで活躍中のRift Sですが、現在もとても満足してます。長年先代から培われてきた技術なのでしょうけど、このコントローラーのほんと快適ですよね。VRゲームを探すときなどは『STEAM VR　ランキング(週間)』など辺りをググっています🌸あと参考になればですが、有機ELのペンタイル方式は画素サイズ比率で緑9・赤5・青4の並びで1ドット液晶フルRGB方式は画素サイズ比率で緑9・赤9・青9の並びで1ドットとなるらしいです『Rift Sに関する専門家の意見ですが(2019)「ハイエンドPCを用いてリッチなVR体験をしたい場合はOculus Rift Sが適しています。解像度は片目1,280×1,440　新型フレネルレンズ1,440×1,600と一回り上の解像度となっているVIVE Pro（有機EL）よりも綺麗に感じより自然な操作が可能なのはOculus Riftのコントローラーである。」との事です』2020年現在もPCのスペックとRift Sの相性が良いように思います———————————————————————–2020/04/18追記VALVE INDEXクラスを快適に動かすには高い解像度に応じてRTX2070SUPER以上程度必要と知りまして誤った情報だったらすいません💦暫く販売が止まっていたRift Sが在庫ありから予約受付になっていますねRift次世代機の開発の噂で生産が止まった？っと思っていましたが再開されてなによりです🌸コスパは2020年に入っても最高ですしSTEAM VRでのシェアは圧倒的にRift Sに推移してます仮に次世代VRヘッドセッドが出るとしてもRTX30以降でしょうし現在様々な要因であらゆるものが先送りされていますのでRift SがPCでのVRにはベストバイな気がします映像は綺麗で操作感も抜群ですよ🎶

    I don’t recommend it at all , was working fine only for the first 3 days then is not working anymore, I contacted oculus rift many times , at the beginning they were responding but then they didn’t answer my e-mails or requests .
