    I love this container for my Frenchie’s food! It fits her entire 11.5 pound bag of food with a little extra room. I like that the colors are neutral and the latch makes it air tight. It’s definitely priced better than others.

    12.5lbs Dog Food Version Would Fit 15-20lbs of Small Animal Food
    Quick note to guinea pig owners: The 12.5lbs pound, 15-quarter version is too tall to fit beneath a C&C cage.Good old IRIS. They make high quality containers with solid, tight-fitting lids and are made of dense, durable plastic. All the closures snap secure, and I’ve never had staleness issues. One of my favorite things about these is that they have that chemically smell you sometimes get with plastic containers. They barely have an odor at all.I bought the 15-quart version this time around. I needed it for small animal food. I gotta say, I think this thing would hold close to 20lbs of the stuff. The attached pictures show an unopened, 10lbs bag of guinea pig food sitting in there.The snap is a little funky on this one. It feels like you’re going to break it the first time you open it all the way. After than, it’s nice. I think the pegs that hold it in place could do with being a little thicker for longevity’s sake, but it feels good to open and close.My only complaint on this one is the bulk of the lid. Those tiered bumps turns this from more like a 14.0-inch tall container to closer to a 15-inch. As far as I can tell, the only reason for it is to make it look more like a classic Rubbermaid. Trim & flat lids, like the IRIS ‘nesting’ lids, are easier to fit into tight spots and can have things stacked on top of them. I wish they used those on all of their containers.

    Perfect
    This container is perfect for storing catfood away from the cats and dogs who learned how to open the lid of my old bin. This closes securly and feels like it has a great seal.

    This is a nice container. Closes well. The plastic has a matte finish and has a great feel. No odors.

    It is NOT airtight
    The size is nice for small bag of cat food, I am putting a 6 lb bag in. I had a large container before that we stored dog and cat food in but no longer have the dog so wanted to downsize. This product looked like the same type of container but is nothing like it. Perhaps the reviews that say it is good are for larger sizes.It is NOT airtight at all. The flip up latch does not increase the pressure on the lid to hold it tight. The ‘seal’ looks like styrofoam or a similar material. If you were to open the food and dump it in you would have bugs and stale food very quickly.I don’t think I just ‘got a bad one’. It is the way the product is made with a loose top and an ineffective seal. I keep my food in its original bag, closed inside. I put a container with weight on top to hold the lid down to the seal. So I am using it but will continue to look for a truly airtight container that I can count on to keep food fresh even if I didn’t close the bag good.
