    PREMIUM QUALITY FOR GROCERY STORE PRICE!
    Iams always used to be considered a premium cat food, similar to Science Diet and Nutro. When the company sold, the product seemed to be the same, but instead of competing in the ever-growing line of premium pet foods sold at pet supply stores, they reduced there prices and became a top of the market grocery brand.The price is reasonable enough that I can use it to feed the feral cats I’ve TNRed. After using good to trap them to be neutered and vaccinated, they guilted me into feeding them 2x per day. Since these cats don’t and probably never will have homes, they need all the help they can get!

    Even though this is marketed as cat food, it has become the absolute best choice for my hedgehogs. I’ve tried several brands over the years, including foods specifically made for hedgehogs, but none have given me the same results as this one. Since switching to IAMS, they’ve stayed healthier overall, with excellent digestion and more consistent energy levels.One of the biggest differences I’ve noticed is in their digestion — their poop is perfectly formed and easy to clean up, not sticky, watery, or too hard like it was with other foods. That alone makes a huge difference for their comfort and health. Their skin and coats also look healthier, and I’ve noticed improved activity and appetite since making the switch.Another unexpected bonus is that even my dogs love this food! They often sneak a few bites when I’m feeding the hedgehogs, which says a lot about the quality and taste.     My two cats are big fans of Iams — based on their enthusiastic feedback, which roughly translates to “meow, mow mow mow meeow,” I’m guessing the taste is solid. They devour it like I forgot to feed them for a week (I didn’t).But here’s the gripe: the bag. There is no easy way to open it. Scissors? Nope. Utility knife? Still awkward. Precision engineering? Forget it. Every method I’ve tried either rips weird, sprays kibble like confetti, or leaves me with a jagged hole that’s impossible to pour from. I’ve resorted to dumping it into a separate container just to avoid daily rage.Food itself? Great. Cats are happy, healthy, shiny, and slightly less judgmental than usual. Just be prepared to wrestle the bag like it owes you money.

    A quality item that is typically very high priced in most stores. I was fortunate to find a discount and apply to coupon. Was able to purchase an extremely reasonable price. Animals like it. Would recommend it but only if you purchase on Amazon, it’s highway robbery at the store.

    My critter cats think they are in heaven with this food. There’s something about it that makes them try and break into the bag they love it so much. The smell isnt awful like some cat food. As long as they love it… they shall have it!

    Full disclosure: I have not tried this cat food myself.My cat has tried it though and he seems to like it. This isn’t the best cat food available but it is a decent choice for the price point. I can’t speak to how filling it might be compared to other brands because our adult kitty is new to us. He’s a young cat and it quite energetic. Since he eats well and he is thriving, I’m assuming the food is good.I wish I knew where the ingredients were sourced, but the ingredients themselves aren’t the absolute best. However, this is a decent compromise of value and nutrition. Our local SPCA uses this brand, and while it’s because Iams donates it to them, I cannot fathom they’d feed something unsafe to their furry guests. The fact that Iams donates all the food the shelter needs is a plus for the brand.
