Among their extensive range of products, the Women’s Footlight stands out as a testament to the brand’s commitment to quality, comfort, and style. This iconic shoe has been a staple in the dance world for decades, and its enduring popularity is a reflection of its timeless design and versatility.

A Brief History

The Capezio Women’s Footlight was first introduced in the mid-20th century, during the golden age of dance. It was designed to meet the needs of professional dancers who required a shoe that could keep up with their demanding performance schedules. The shoe’s creator, Salvatore Capezio, was a skilled cobbler who had a deep understanding of the dance world and its unique requirements. His vision was to craft a shoe that would provide superior support, flexibility, and comfort, while also exuding elegance and sophistication.

Design and Features

The Capezio Women’s Footlight is a masterclass in design. The shoe features a sleek, streamlined silhouette that hugs the foot, providing a snug and secure fit. The upper is made from high-quality leather or canvas, depending on the style, and is carefully crafted to mold to the foot over time. The shoe’s toe box is roomy, allowing for a full range of motion, while the heel is designed to provide stability and support.

One of the key features of the Footlight is its unique box construction, which allows for a smooth, quiet landing. This is particularly important for dancers who perform in a variety of settings, from stage to studio. The shoe’s outsole is made from a durable, non-marking material that provides excellent traction and grip, reducing the risk of slips and falls.

Comfort and Support

The Capezio Women’s Footlight is renowned for its exceptional comfort and support. The shoe features a cushioned insole and a soft, breathable lining that wicks away moisture, keeping the foot cool and dry. The shoe’s design also incorporates a number of innovative features, such as a padded collar and a supportive arch, to reduce pressure and discomfort.

Versatility and Style

The Capezio Women’s Footlight is a versatile shoe that can be worn for a variety of dance styles, from ballet and modern to jazz and tap. The shoe’s sleek design and elegant lines make it a popular choice for performance and competition, while its comfort and support make it an excellent option for rehearsal and class.

In addition to its technical features, the Footlight is also a stylish and fashionable shoe. It is available in a range of colors and styles, from classic black and pink to bold and bright hues. The shoe’s timeless design ensures that it will never go out of style, making it a worthwhile investment for dancers of all levels.

Conclusion

The Capezio Women’s Footlight is a true icon in the dance world. Its enduring popularity is a testament to the brand’s commitment to quality, comfort, and style. Whether you’re a professional dancer or a student, the Footlight is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a shoe that can keep up with their active lifestyle. They receive positive feedback for their appearance and value for money. The fit and size receive mixed reviews – while some find them perfect, others report they run narrow and are too small. Great line dancing shoes
I needed comfortable shoes for line dancing and these fit the bill very well. The smooth soles slide well, the heel is the right height and chunky enough for ‘stomping’. The only complaint I have is with the tiny buckle on the strap; it’s not easy to do up. Guided by other reviews, I bought a 1/2 size larger than my street size and they fit perfectly. Some people had commented that the fit was too narrow. My street size is 10.0 M. When I purchased the shoes you were out of the 10.5 W so I had to go with the 10.5 M. As it turns out, 10.5 M is perfect. The ‘tan’ color of the shoes is actually more of a ‘stone’ color, as indicated in the online image. A good shopping experience, good communication, shipping (to Canada)was reasonably fast, and item met my expectations.

    Comfortable and great value
Very comfortable and high quality. Fit perfectly (1/2 size larger than regular street shoes)

This fit as expected because it was the 4th pair we tried.
This shoe was a wonderful shoe for a school musical. Comfortable, heel a good height for an 11 year old, arrived quickly due to prime shipping, but it took a LOT of WORK to get this pair.My daughter wears a size 2 street shoe and has fairly narrow feet. I sized up to a 3 1/3 after reading revues and was sent a ladies size 7 dress boot: not even a dance shoe. I returned it and could no longer get the 3 1/2 with prime shipping, so decided to try a 3 (remember this is a child who wears a 2). It was too small! So, I called Discount Dance Supply and they were very helpful and suggested I try a 4 and 4 1/2. They only had the 4 in stock and I was in a rush. With the returns and waiting, etc. we only had a few weeks to performance. It arrive the next day and they were so helpful I hated to return the shoe but it was too small as well. Again I searched Amazon and found a 4 1/2 with prime shipping. They arrived in time for the show, but a lot of heartache and costs associated with getting these shoes.Capezio sizes their dance shoes differently than street shoes. I read the reviews to size up, but only one reviewer suggested to size up this much. GO UP 2 TO 2 1/2 SIZES if converting child size to adult. A child 3 1/2 normally is lady’s 5. So in reality this is a whole size up, not half size. The shoe is great, price was good, but Discount Dance Supply was only a few dollars more and I was able to talk with a representative who could answer my questions. I wish supply had been greater, and I hadn’t tried Amazon first so I would not have wasted so much time for what would have initially been a couple of dollars.

    They mold to your feet
I love these shoes so much.when you get them they seem small but over time they mold to your feet. They are great quality to! They are very comfortable and durable. They look great on stage , and are very affordable in the price range of dance shoes. Overall 10/10 and will buy again!

These are good, classic character shoes with just enough heel to …
These are good, classic character shoes with just enough heel to look pretty but not hurt. I ordered a pair (possibly another brand?) several years ago and was disappointed in the unwrapped plastic heel, but these have a nice leather-wrapped heel that matches the rest of the shoe. Following the advice of other reviewers, I ordered a 1/2 size larger than I normally wear in a dress shoe (9 instead of an 8 or 8 1/2–I’m usually a pretty solid 39 EU), and they are just about the perfect size. They do seem to run a little narrow, but that’s OK for my foot shape. At first I thought they might still be too small/narrow, but since they’re real leather, I can tell they’re starting to give a little to break into a good fit. I spent $2 at WalMart to get non-slip pads for the bottoms (especially the heels) so I can wear them for regular shoes.

    Couldn’t Be Happier
I struggle to find shoes that fit properly, are comfortable and look dressy. These shoes check all the boxes! Functional enough for the office with enough class for an evening out. So, so, so happy with these!!!

  7. Shirly

    these shoes are narrow!
I needed somewhat comfortable street shoes and I thought dance shoes would be more comfortable because they are usually soft- I am a serious ballroom dancer. This shoes is a little stiffer than my other dance shoes, but felt OK for the street shoes. After reading reviews for many warning about the smaller size, I decided to order my regular size 6, but ‘wide’. The length was normal 6, and fit my feet, but the width was still narrow. Their ‘wide’ is actually ‘medium’ compared to other shoes, so unless you have a narrow feet, I would recommend to order ‘wide’ as a regular width. I ended up ordering one larger size with ‘wide’, which is a little too long for my feet, but the strap keeps my feet in place and I can also attach the patches to the heel.

    Comfortable pair of shoes
I’ve started ballroom dancing and typically never where a shoe with any type of heel. I got this shoe because of the reviews on comfort. I tried it out at a Friday night open studio and they were super comfortable. I danced for two hours off and on (more on than off) without any issues with my shoes. This is saying a lot since I am flat-footed and often have issues with shoes. The shoes seemed to fit well albeit a smidgen to large. But I read the reviews that said they ran anywhere from a 1/2 size to a whole size too small. I got a size 12 and typically wear size 11. The two drawbacks are that the shoe is VERY slick. Almost busted it a time or two on the dance floor and although I have only worn it indoors one time… it appears to have taken a beating on the bottom… Hoping they will hold up for the long haul since they are sooo comfortable. But given that they weren’t terribly expensive….not expecting them to last forever.

  9. Orla

These shoes are fantastic!I bought these to have for teaching dancing with a musical I am choreographing and they fit the bill superbly. The heel is not too high but is perfect for wearing all the time. I wear them for hours on end and have never once caused me any pain or discomfort. The make is fabulous. What a fantastic price for such a well known brand. The cushion inside allows you to put pressure on certain points without any uncomfortable impact to your feet. The strap keeps you well secured.I would advise anyone who wants to do ballroom dancing (it gives you the height to get used to putting pressure on the balls of your feet, so perfect for practice and newbees) and other styles of dance (except street/hip hop or ballet)WARNING: These shoes are made small! You need to get one size up from your regular size. Now I buy a size 7 (uk) in shoes normally but i’m more a 6 and a half. I got a 7 and a half in these and they were perfect. But even if you have a narrow foot – you still need to get a bigger size. I know from a friend that this is true.

Tried them on and they fit perfectly glad I got a size bigger. Looking forward to wearing them for rehearsals for my next show. Lovely looking shoe.

  11. Mirian

Ha tardado en llegar. Pero el producto es muy cómodo para bailar salsa.

  12. Lorna Sutton

Just what I was looking for for my weekly ballroom and Latin dance class. After reading reviews I ordered a whole size larger than my usual size and even then they are very snug. However I wore them for the first time this week and they were extremely comfortable iand felt really nice to dance in..
