I’ve owned this since Nov 15th 2022! This is my review after almost 3 years.
I’m looking at buying another gaming headset after owning this one for 3 years! I immediately already know I’m purchasing the same thing.Honestly it still works great, but the plastics get a bit brittle after this long. They’re very comfortable still, even with glasses! That was the biggest hurdle I experienced with finding a headset. Something with soft ear pieces that would push my glasses into the sides of my head. 3 years and honestly they’re still going strong. They can connect to both computer via usb dongle or any Bluetooth device. (computer, phone, etc) The mic is very clear to all my friends online. I actually have an audio interface with a phantom power suspended mic (very high dollar), and you can tell when I switch to the other mic, but my friends have told me it’s only a slight difference. They’re lightweight, and cordless which is always a win/win. Range on them seem pretty good as well. I game in the basement, and can walk out into the garage upstairs or even into the driveway of my house before experiencing any issues. Definitely reaches the bathroom without any issues and that’s upstairs on the other side of the house. I did buy a 12ft long USB cord, plug the dongle into it, and put it on the other side of my gaming room to help extend the range a bit though. (put it at the bottom of the stairs, behind my couch). I’ve touched base on one “con” already with the plastics being brittle, which I’ve been just using “Mighty Putty” to fix and then letting it sit all night, then it’s fine again, and honestly there’s only one more small thing. The volume control on it seems a bit weird after about a year, if I had to guess on the timing. I try turning it down with the headset slider, and it’ll turn it down then back up even with me only turning it down. It’s really not a huge deal for me though, because when I turn it down a slider pops up on my computer screen and I can click on that to turn it down just as easily and with my phone obviously you can just use your side buttons to adjust the volume. Overall though these have definitely stood the test of time as far as the speakers go. Both right, and left still work just fine. Plenty of sound for someone looking to listen to music, audiobooks, video calls, or even trying to hear footsteps in your favorite game. The noise deadening works great, but not TOO much. If your house is on fire, dogs barking, or wife/husband/significant other is yelling at you, you’ll know it. 😉😉 Another quick note is that the adjustment for size on it works as it should. I have a bit of a small head and it fits me just fine. Wife wears it fine too. I don’t have to adjust it at all for it to fit me and in fact, at the largest size, it would probably fit a giant.. Just sayin. They get to be very large if that’s what you’re trying to find.Like I said, after 3 years, and I’m now looking for a new headset, just strickly for anesthetics. (Tired of looking at the Mighty Putty haha) But tbh I’m seriously considering just buying the same headset again.

Way better than reviews make it out to be. No need to look elsewhere. Crazy good microphone.
I was looking for essentially the best bluetooth mic I could get for work. A boom mic would be the minimum requirement for me, because you need the mic physically close to your mouth, so it had to be some sort of gaming headset. After that, I looked for mic sound tests and all that. So, you’ll watch reviews and hear soundtests for the mic, and you’ll think it sounds kinda bad on bluetooth. Plus some of the negative reviews on Amazon would make you concerned on the build quality. Even using the USB C dongle, other headsets like the Razer BlackShark V2 Pro or the Hyperspeed are significantly better.Well, take this from an audiophile: I tried these first hand and they are great. From the build quality, the mic quality and ability to not pick up background noise, all the way to the sound quality on bluetooth. I was under the impression that I was going to settle for a mediocre mic, and thankfully that’s not the case at all. This mic is up there with a desktop boom mic, and sounds better than my $150 Logi Pro X. Your voice comes across clear and crisp without background noise, even if you speak at a low volume. The default EQ preset is garbage, but download the EQ app and set the preset to music or do your own custom preset, and it definitely surpassed my expectations. They also feel super solid though I’ll have to break them in for a bit. So far, I love them. I’m glad I didn’t go for the more expensive BlackShark hyperspeed. If these ever break on me, I’m more likely to buy them again than not. Sound clarity / definition is definitely good, comparable to quality open-backs like Sennheiser’s. Sadly Razer uses a trash EQ by default, but nothing that can’t be fixed by the user. These can get “bust-your-eardrums” loud, if necessary. The thing itself is not uncomfortable and does not put a ton of pressure on your skull, but with time and use it gets gradually more comfortable.I love how well-built they are. They are lightweight, but not in a cheap way. Razer is slowly earning me as a loyal customer, this is my third device from them and it’s a hit like the others. First two being the Kiyo Pro webcam and the Siren V2 X mic.One tip for Discord regardless of device or headset: Disable echo cancellation, It only causes problems. The auto call switching feature is a nice add-on, and the USB-C dongle works on your phone if you want, even with a case on, as long as it’s not a very thick case.10/10, I hope Razer doesn’t abandon this product line (at this price) and they continue to make newer / better iterations years down the line.EDIT: I ended up downloading Wavelet on my phone and using an AutoEQ profile specific to the 2022 Barracuda X. I couldn’t be happier, sound clarity and quality improved a lot. (If you wanna do this and previously used the Razer app to set an EQ preset, go back to that app, connect the headset, and change it back to default. Otherwise the AutoEQ won’t work properly).

    Superb gaming/music headset!!!
I cannot stress enough how great this headset is for music and gaming (tested on the Switch 2 system) for under $100. This is a very durable, very comfortable, life-saving headset!!NOTE: For sound quality, Razer has an app. So, download it to change the equalizer settings to music, gaming, fine tuning, etc. People that complain about sound quality probably haven’t done this…This headset also comes with all attachments needed for gaming. It has the direct cord with cord extension (3.5mm aux), USB to USB-C cord adapter for wireless direct dongle connect, and it can connect via Bluetooth. For gaming, I use the dongle. If it doesn’t connect after turning the headset on, unplug the dongle then plug it back in and it connects right away. Just make sure the headset isn’t already connected via Bluetooth if you’ve paired it with a device (it will automatically connect to phone for instance, while on Switch 2 you have to manually connect Bluetooth in settings).Bluetooth for gaming works, but it isn’t as good as connecting through the dongle (music sounds great through Bluetooth though).Very clear audio with surround sound (footsteps in gaming for instance), easy volume control, quick mute button for mic on/off (with detachable microphone), lightweight, and very comfortable make this headset a huge winner.

This is one of the best headphones out there from Razer. It’s comparable to the bose qc35 and the active noise cancellation is also surprisingly good. I played a YouTube video at full volume on my mobile phone while using my computer and surprisingly, it managed to cut off almost all the sound. The audio quality is also great with a custom equaliser setting and thx spatial. The size is right for my head and it’s also very comfortable, the clamping force is just adequate. I usually use this with the 2.4 Ghz dongle so can’t comment much on the bluetooth connectivity. If you prioritise audio quality along with noise cancellation and want something for gaming, then go for this. You won’t be disappointed.
