Excellent Quality with SOFT, REAL LEATHER for Price!
I was so happy to find that these very comfortable dancing shoes, “Capezio Women’s 459 Suede Sole Jr. Footlight Character Shoe” were still available and they had my size, 7W, in Black! I love them because they are SOFT, REAL Leather, have a wide 1.5 inch heel, and a suede sole. The fit is perfect and I can dance in them for hours despite my foot problems. I owned and wore another pair in the past, that are very comfortable to dance in, despite my bunions, and have lasted a very long time. The only “negatives” are that the heels are not covered in suede with exposed nails, along with very minimal arch support. However, these problems were easily solved by having a shoe repair person apply suede covers on the heels and wearing my usual orthotics with them. The cost at that time for the suede heel covers, several years ago, was only $6.I am disappointed that the “Caramel” color is no longer available, in this exact shoe, in my size. I can only wear non-synthetic, REAL Leather on my feet which seems to be increasingly difficult to find now, and everything about this “459” shoe is perfect. I hope that it becomes available again in the near future.

    Real Leather,best for comfort!
Glad I found these in leather. My daughter wore them the first time at Greek Dance practice and the toes were a little tight. The next day before practice, I sprayed the inside toe area with leather stretch, had her put on a thick sock and she wore them for 1/2 an hour. When we got to her Greek Dance practice, she put them on with her nylons and they were perfect! She’s able to wear them for her 2 hour dance practice with no problem. The leather shoe stretch I keep on hand at home since you can’t get it at stores anymore (but you can order through Amazon). I try to go with leather because they let your feet breathe and they will conform to your feet.

seem to fit ok, look decent
They fit true to size. I usually wear a 9.5 and the 9.5 feel great. They kind of look like a pair of black ballet slippers with a heel on them, the toe is a little more rounded than I was expecting (but that also means more room in the toe area which is nice). The heel is strangely lacking suede and you can see nails (like other reviews mentioned.) They bulge out a lot on the inner side when I flex my foot. There is almost no support under the arch. They are nice and light and a pretty black matte color. I bought these for swing dancing lessons. I think they will work well, I just hope they hold up well, I’m eying the thin strap warily that is absolutely needed to keep these on.

Not a good Capezio quality – cheap.
I bought these in the hope of having more comfortable character shoes than the pair (by Danca) I’ve worn for years. These were a horrible overpriced disappointment. Although the heel height is fine, the leather flexible, the shoe fit a bit too large and the whole shoe felt flimsy. So I put a thin foam innersole in them and wore them for a couple of hours for a performance. When I removed the shoes, both of my feet had cuts on them, about halfway between the ankle and the base of the big toe. The cuts were almost an inch long and took over a month to disappear, meanwhile, they looked horrible and I couldn’t wear sandals til they healed. The forward opening of the shoe has a sharpness to it that actually scratched my flesh! Sadly, I’d bought these ahead of time & by the time I’d worn them, once, the window to return them had closed. I plan to advise the manufacturer and send them the photos of my cut feet! I’ve worn Capezio character shoes for over 30 years and the quality of these is just not up to par – they feel very cheap & not worth the price!

Careful – for me, it does fit as shoe size (7.5) !
I ordered both the Capezio Women’s Suede Sole Jr. Footlight and the Capezio Women’s Jr. Footlight Character. Both models fit me like the description from Capezio predicted (one like street shoe size, the other half a size up). I normally wear a 7.5. Luckily, I got free returns so that I could order several sizes and I did not have to rely on the review only, but I would recommend to order several sizes when you are unsure like me.The shoe is quite narrow, which I liked because I have slim feet. Maybe that is why some people find it smaller than street shoe size or maybe the deviation from street shoe size is larger when you go up in size. One issue that I had with all four pairs of Capezio shoes that I ordered is that the heel seems to be at a slightly different angle than the front part of the shoe. So when I had my toes/the ball of the foot on the ground, the back part of the heel does not touch the ground. When I have the weight on the heels, the toes/ball of the feet do not touch the ground – which feels very unstable. Maybe this is because these shoes must also work for tap dancing (they have a hole in the heel so that you can put a tap heel on it). I hope that the heel will not break because of the uneven weight distribution. The Suede sole is nice, good for (ballroom) dancing probably. I couldn’t keep this pair because the good size was not available and kept theCapezio Women’s Jr. Footlight Character instead. Both are comfortable.

AWESOME shoe! Needed dance shoes and have a crushed …
AWESOME shoe! Needed dance shoes and have a crushed foot from accident 30 years ago – there is no ball of the foot just scar tissue, then toes. This heel is perfect height. Needed E width and the wide one was perfect! Ankle strap is plenty long for my less-than-slender ankles. So comfortable during and after dancing lesson, instrumental in my continuing classes. I think this is the best shoe ever!!

    A good shoe-a lousy heel.
The shoe itself is fine, the problem is the heel. It is completely uncovered wood-looking material with a nail in the middle. Ballroom dancers know that turns are done on both the ball of the foot AND the heel. An uncovered heel is slippery and the nailhead will ruin a ballroom floor. In my case one of the heels has the nail in in a slight angle-the nailhead is slightly offset making it protrude just enough to scratch the floor. I won’t bother to return the shoes–otherwise they are fine–I will hammer in the nail a bit more and take the shoes to the cobbler and have him put suede over the heels -which is what Capezio should have done in the first place.

Ordered same as shoe size but they were tight. And that was with pantyhose vs socks. Very nice shoes though. Well made and sturdy

Perfect fit for my daughter 🙂 She dances and needed them for competition thanks Amazon:)

This is a really good price for character shoes, but of course, you get what you pay for.I found my legs were always sore after wearing them, unlike other sets of heels I own. They don’t have much support.HOWEVER, they did their job for almost a whole year, and I’m happy with the price! I’d recommend this product 🙂

I am not a dancer, but I wear character shoes for theatre performances. I wanted a pair of nude character shoes and these are lower quality than my other pair of Capezio shoes. My major issue are the heels. They don’t feel quite right… They almost….rock?…..with each step. I don’t know if they are level with the rest of the shoe, if that makes sense. I wouldn’t trust these heels to hold up while dancing, but for just acting on stage, they will do. The price is comparable to the quality. If you spend more you will get a better quality shoe.

  12. Amazon Customer

I am pleased with the service from both Amazon and the supplier. Everything was as expected. I continue to be a satisfied and pleased Amazon customer.
