Surprisingly great – ignore other reviews (unless your dog is a chewer)
I’m not sure why there are negative reviews; probably user error (or ignorance on the part of an owner who doesn’t anticipate their large dog trying to chew it up), but this has been working great. My dog (who is smaller and has never chewed anything she wasn’t supposed to) requires seizure medication every 8 hours, and this allows me to administer her meds when I’m away or sleeping. I roll her pill in a piece of a Pill Pocket, then add some smelly salmon jerky treat next to it so the scent attracts her it when it opens. I am intentional about not turning the dial counter-clockwise as I imagine this could damage the mechanism. It’s completely silent and very quiet when it pops open. I’ll update in the event it stops working, but so far, so good.

Nearly idiot-proof, 24-hour feeder
Nothing fancy, so the likelihood of failure is limited to a product defect or expired battery. What you control in that scenario is the battery. If you don’t put one in, or if you put one in that expires during your absence, your pet is out of luck. You will want to test the product to ensure it works before you use it.Getting the battery in can be a struggle, and this snugness is mentioned in the instructions, along with the manufacturer’s advice on how to most easily insert it. This isn’t a huge hurdle, but a minor inconvenience.I imagine it’s a snug fit because if the pet jostled the dish and the battery came lose, the device is inoperable. It will feed your small or mid-sized pet twice in a 24-hour period. There are two separate bowls in one molded piece. It is not two separate bowls, should that matter to you. I can not imagine why it would. For a larger animal, I would think you’d need to fill both bowls and synchronize the timers so the pet could have one decent meal.I suppose there are more expensive dishes that can be controlled using WiFi and an app. But that technology can also fail. The smart thing to do is place this dish where you can view it on a web cam, where you can check to see if your pet got a meal.As an option, there are similar dishes that cost slightly more. They have separate bowls and 48-hour timers, and also include a cold pack that allows you to chill wet food for a span. There’s no cold pack option here.

Great no worries for your dog
My dog has learned the sound, I’ve had this for a couple years now. I don’t have to ever stress or rush home to feed him lunch or give him a snack. This one is simple. The only downside is you have to take the battery out when you are not using it because the timer will not stop going. It keeps going around and around which is kind of a pain. You would think once it’s open it would stop, but nope.

Cat doesn’t have to get us out of bed to feed her in the morning!!!
This is a pretty good deal for feeding the cat in the morning. Even if she is on the bed, she can hear it open and will take off for breakfast. The timer is not accurate to the minute or anything but it opens pretty much on time. It doesn’t have a clock. You manually turn the dial to the number of hours until you expect it to open. If it is 8 pm and you want it to open at 6 am, set the timer for 10 hours. I believe it is set up for 15 minute intervals. It is easy to use. The batteries have lasted a long time. This came if very handy while we were on vacation. Family came in once a day, usually in the evening, to feed the cat. They could give her wet food for dinner and set up the feeder with dry food for the morning. It worked out great for them to be able to only come by once a day instead of more often.I do recommend this for a smaller animal. It wouldn’t hold enough food for a bigger dog or other animal. Work great for our 15lb cat.

Absolute Garbage for a Multi-Pet Household – You Get What You Pay For
I bought this product for a multi-animal household in preparation for a trip I had to take, and man, after coming back and reading the reviews, I am absolutely convinced that they were paid to be written. Where to start:Accuracy: Given the price-point, as one might expect there is an analog dial, powered by a double A battery, for setting up the timed openings in 30 minute increments. This dial is incredibly loosely affixed with a poor “set” mechanism. This means that the dial wobbles left or right of the mark, so you can’t tell “is this aligned to 1 hour or 30 minutes?” Even a paltry amount of quality assurance would have uncovered this as problematic if a user needed any degree of accuracy in their timing (in a multi-pet household you wouldnt want one opening first, and then another 30 minutes later).Quality/Sealing: There is essentially no seal to it, so animals can smell that there is food inside. If you have hungry pets, like I do, they will likely try to break it open.Basic Function & Instruction: It is absolutely unclear what determines whether or not the dial/timer will work. The instructions illustrate arrows moving in a counter clockwise motion, but on 2/4 feeders I got, this didnt work, and the timer just stayed where it was. Also, the device is completely silent! Not a click, not anything, so there is no cue for an animal that it might be time to eat. This might be a very minor nit as many might argue “well if theyre hungry they’ll just get up and look for food!” but again, just simple QA would have uncovered this as a weird omission.

Unreliable
Worked fairly well for about a month, then was inconsistent in opening one or the other side. Changed batteries (Amazon, which have served me well before,) after a month, then again two weeks later, reapeated in two weeks, again the following week and now neither side opened this last two days. Not sustainable, especially going through that many batteries and it still failed.

Stopped working after six weeks of use – no reason why, new batteries put in, just won’t work!

It does its job to open at the timing set. Easy to set up and clean. My rabbit knows where to find food when it opens up. Very convenient especially when we went home late and the little will still have his pellets and vegetables opened up to him when it’s feeding time. It makes life easier for both humans and rabbit! This is relatively cheaper compared to the big feeders. Love this!

I have three of these i used when i go one holidays . Only problem the corners the cat licks the food into the corners and it is wasted would like to see more rounded product. Otherwise work well.

Great product for timing meals when not at home for pet .. only negative is numbers come off the dial over time and difficult to see the time
