    Vegan Kibble first of its kind
    I did get this for my dog and the size are small pellets like Cheerios. Its a valid kibble, but I guess my dog is a picky eater, he did not enjoy this type of kibble. Maybe its my fault that I feed him human food more often. The one differentiating feature is that this kibble is vegan and made with only natural and non-animal ingredients. I would prefer to feed this type of dry food for my dog on any given day but in another flavor.

    Dogs (Maltese) seem to like it and they eat handmade food alot. My small girl is finicky and eats good, i think they like the crunch 🤪. Dog food is expensive anywhere.

    We recently started mixing The Green Dog Super Premium Puppy Vegan Dry Kibble into our 13 lb small-breed pup’s regular meat-based food as a supplement rather than a full replacement, using roughly a 2:1 ratio—two parts his usual animal-protein kibble to one part this plant-based formula. This approach has worked wonderfully for us, giving him the benefits of a balanced vegan boost without completely eliminating the animal protein he’s used to. The most noticeable plus is how much he loves the mix; he devours every bowl with the same enthusiasm he shows for his original food alone, and we’ve seen no digestive upset during the gradual transition. His coat looks shinier, his energy stays steady throughout the day, and the added fiber from ingredients like beet pulp seems to keep his stools nicely formed and consistent. We normally give him baby carrots and apple pieces as veggie treats, but in my opinion this kibble is an excellent replacement for those extras—it delivers similar plant-based nutrition in a complete, convenient form. Because he’s a small breed, the smaller granule size—about one-third the diameter of his regular kibble—makes chewing effortless and reduces any choking risk, which is a huge relief compared to larger pieces he sometimes struggles with.One practical downside I’ve run into is the packaging: the 6.6 lb bag lacks a zip-lock closure, so once it’s opened you have to fold it over carefully or transfer the food to an airtight container to keep it fresh. I also noticed small perforations along the side of the bag (visible in one of the photos I’ve attached), presumably for ventilation during storage and shipping. That’s smart for preventing moisture buildup inside, but it means you have to be extra cautious in humid environments—any excess dampness could soften the kibble, cause clumping, or even lead to spoilage if not stored in a cool, dry spot.Overall, using The Green Dog as a thoughtful add-in has been a win for variety, sustainability, and our little guy’s enjoyment without rocking the boat on his core nutrition. If you have a small dog and want to dip into plant-based options gradually (especially as a stand-in for fresh veggies), this is an easy, tasty way to do it—just plan ahead for proper storage after opening. Five stars for the concept and execution, minor packaging gripe aside.

    Vegan.
    Honestly, not sure what I was expecting when I wanted to try out a vegan dog food. The top three ingredients is soybean, peanuts and corn. Cheap ingredients found in any store and should not be fed in large portions as is not nutritious.The price tag for a 6.6lb of food is to high, there are better options out there. I understand that dogs are omnivores, but they need more nutrition then this, and that can only be achieved by adding meat.As for the taste, my dog was not impressed and would not touch it. I had to mix it into his normal, meat filled, food.Overall, not the best vegan choice, or should be mixed with other food.

    Nutritious puppy food they love
    We tried the adult version of the Green dog food and loved it so we tried the puppy version for the new puppy. As we thought the little guy seemed to really enjoy the size of the kibble, taste, and was able to chew it easily which is a huge plus! I also noticed his coat looks a bit shinier since we switched. It seems to be a good quality option for growing pups. Overall, I’m pretty happy with the quality and price and would recommend checking it out.

    A little hard but my puppy likes it.
    I had the opportunity to try the Green Dog for my elderly dog who had become incredibly picky but loved their kibble, so I was hoping my new puppy would also love it. She is not at all picky about food, nor does she have any intolerances, and so she seems to like this kibble just fine. I have noticed it takes longer for her to eat this than other puppy kibble so I do think it might be a little harder. I have been mixing this kibble in with her other food as more of a supplement which has worked very well for her. On one occasion, she did eat only this kibble for a whole day (ran out of her main food) and her stool became very soft though not diarrhea.As a supplement to her other food, this kibble is a nice way to round out my puppy’s nutrition and give her some variety. The price is expensive though, considering my dog is a large/giant breed mix and eats accordingly. It just doesn’t really make sense to reorder this puppy food for my dog. Especially since she has no problem eating other kibble.I did wait to give this kibble until about 12 weeks old because it seems harder than other puppy food. I would be a little cautious about giving this to a very young small breed dog for this reason though the pieces are very small. Every dog is different but I would keep a close watch at first just to make sure they can handle chewing it.

    Very Pleased! (and Surprised)
    I did not know what to expect from my bichon upon offering him The Green Dog: Super Premium dog food. However, he noticed the box immediately and started sniffing it as soon as it arrived. I thought that was a good sign. Although I personally am not a vegan, I eat very little meat simply because I love animals. So I was hopeful that my dog would like this dog food. It had never occurred to me that there was a vegan dog food available, should I say, that a dog would EAT it. Wow, was I surprised. He was so excited when I took the package out of the box that I decided just to open it and have him try it right from my hand. He loved it so much I had to tell him “no more!” I am so happy that he loves this food. I usually have a few different varieties of kibble in the house and try to alternate. This is his favorite! I was not expecting this reaction! Also he has not gained any weight since starting this food. That, too, is a huge benefit. I plan to order Green Dog dog food again!
